Talisker
Built in 1830, Talisker is still currently the only distillery on the Isle of Skye, which, to some who know the island, and it's propensity for enjoying itself, might seem slightly odd.
Nevertheless, Talisker more than makes up for this dearth with a range of exceptionally fine single malts from the foot of the Cuillin Mountains.
Very different in character from it's heavily peated Islay cousins, it's commonly reported as 'exploding on the palate' with sweet peppery peat smoke.
The 18yo was voted the Worlds Best Single Malt 2007.
